PostSubject: Wrap Job...   Wrap Job... Icon_minitime5/3/2010, 1:04 am

So yesterday i decided to wrap my drop bars to match my bike.
This was my first wrap so it didnt come out perfect, theres are a few spots where its a lil thicker than others, but it works:]
Here's a pic of it, let me know what you think..

People usually start the tape job at the ends, tuck in the tape inside the bars and plug it in with bar ends, then tape up towards the stem where people use tape to secure it there. I personally like the way you did it where you start near the stem. It would look a lot cleaner tucking the ends into the bars and securing it with the bar plugs. Clean tape job none the less!

I'm glad you actually wrapped your handlebars, because so many hipsters don't like that idea. I mean, it's grip for drop down bars like those. Nice Job, and looking good. alien

Thanks!
about "hipsters"; do any of you guys consider your self a "hipster" cause i know there is a view that people have of fixie riders that riding a fixie means your a hipster or a messenger, but i dont consider my self either, i just ride fixies cause i love the type of bike and not because i wanna be "hip"...
what do you guys think???

I'm definitely no hipster... not quite hip enough.

But I definitely did want to be partway toward the positive aspects of a fixie hipster. I guess that'd just be sort of a "fixie scene kid".

When I built my bike I was going for a little bit track, a little bit "tarck"

I'm somewhere between a hardcore track racer and a "fixie kid", which is right where I wanted to be. There's things I like about both worlds, which is easy since they overlap a lot.

I dont consider myself a "hipster" although I do carry a messenger bag but just cause a backpack is uncomfortable on my shoulder chest area. I just love the feel of a fixed gear. Im still learning on how to use my legs to stop but I'll eventually get it...

But back to subject. I didn't even notice the duct tape I thought it was your bar and I was wondering how you did it like that -_-'. But overall we do what looks nice and what is comfortable and bar tape IMHO looks nice and is the most comfortable

true true i understand what both of you mean...

and im glad it didnt take me too long to learn to stop with my legs, i guess its from riding unicycles, cause its the same aspect of stopping...
but back to the subject...
ahah i think imma put electric tape instead of of duct tape cause i tried pushing the bar tape into the caps but i cut it a lil short Crying or Very sad

chase - your green on black looks dope as hell.. nice job. cover that silver duct with black electrical tape and its money! haha.

i watched the dude at the shop wrap my bullhorns. he started at the barends using the endcap to hold the tape after getting it set in the right spot, then he started going in towards the stem. at the very end he used the "profile" sticker-tape stuff that came in the tape package to make a clean end. didnt look too awful hard.

BTW - i got the "gel" tape and its the shizz...
